david jarzen ?
a southern boy raised in the suburbs of Washington, d.c. destined to play around.

David is an actor, singer, educator, advocate, and researcher originally from Alexandria, Virginia, in the United States. He trained at Point Park University as a musical theatre actor, then moved to London in 2020 to further a career in Voice and Speech. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. David most recently held an appointment at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where he taught voice and speech across the undergraduate and postgraduate pathways.
David is a certified teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork, a panlingual approach to accent teaching and coaching.
He was designated a Linklater Teacher in 2025, part of the best cohort ever.
David is thrilled to have taught at many leading drama schools across London, including LAMDA, Mountview, East 15, Rose Bruford, Collective Acting Studio, and Central. David is an advocate for inclusive theatre practices and prides himself on his dedication and research in Anti-Racist, Equitable pedagogy.
When in London, David supported actors and productions on and off the West End. He is most proud to have been part of the Voice Team at Matilda the Musical, under the Head of Voice, Laura Neel. Matilda is currently playing at the Cambridge Theatre.
David is currently a Fellow in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. He leads research on the intersection of masculinity and voice and is currently conducting a research project titled— The Voice Change Study.
David is a proud member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association.
